장애아동 형제자매의 긍정적 적응 및 발달을 위한 방안 고찰

본 연구는 장애아동 형제자매의 긍정적 적응 및 발달을 위한 방안을 고찰하기 위하여, 국내 학술지를 중심으로 장애아동의 형제자매와 관련된 연구 18편을 분석하였다. 선정된 18편을 대상으로, 장애아동 형제자매의 심리적·사회적 발달 경험, 장애아동 형제자매의 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인, 장애아동의 발달과 관련한 형제자매의 역할, 그리고 장애아동 형제자매를 위한 지원 프로그램의 효과에 대하여 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 장애아동의 형제자매는 그들의 심리적·사회적 발달에서 긍정적인 경험과 함께 부정적인 경험을 함께 가지는 것으로 나타났으며, 이들의 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 부모의 태도, 출생순위, 형제자매의 성별, 그리고 장애의 심각성 정도로 나타났다. 또한 장애아동과 그들의 형제자매와의 상호작용은 장애아동의 언어 및 사회성을 발달시키는데 기여하는 것으로 나타났으며, 장애아동 형제자매를 위한 지원 프로그램이 형제자매의 긍정적 발달에 기여하는 것으로 보고되었다. 이러한 결과에 근거해 장애아동 형제자매의 긍정적 적응 및 발달을 위한 방안으로, 비장애 형제자매에게 장애 형제자매의 장애에 대한 정보 제공, 부모교육, 그리고 형제자매 지원 프로그램의 개발 및 활성화를 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study reviewed 18 articles which were published in Korean peer-reviewed journals in order to suggest ways for a positive adjustment and development of siblings who have a child with a disability. In specific, the study reviewed the siblings' experiences and characteristics on the psychological and social development, the influencing factors on sibling relationships and sibling's attitude, the siblings' roles related to the intervention for their siblings with disabilities, and the effect of sibling support programs. As the results, the siblings of children with disabilities experienced both positive and negative psychological and social development. The influencing factors on siblings' attitude included a parent's attitude, a birth order, a sibling's gender, and a severity of a disability. As well, siblings of children with disabilities contributed to the language and social development of children with disabilities. Especially, sibling support programs influenced on the positive development of siblings of children with disabilities. To enhance the siblings' positive adjustment and development, the study suggested the provision of information about siblings' disability, the provision of parent education, and the use of sibling support programs.
