학령기 말더듬아동의 심리 정서적 의사소통 태도에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 심리 정서적 의사소통 태도에 있어서 학령기(7;0-9;11) 말더듬아동과 일반아동 사이에서 말더듬으로 기인한 정서적인 영향으로 태도에 차이가 있는지 알아보고, 또한 말더듬 아동 가운데 말더듬의 심한 정도에 따라 심리 정서적인 의사소통 태도에 차이가 있는지 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구의 대상은 말더듬 아동 20명과 생활연령 및 성별이 일치하고 언어능력은 K-WISC-Ⅲ(언어이해요인)검사와 언어문제해결력 검사를 실시한 다음 t검정 결과 집단 간 유의한 차이가 없는 일반아동 20명을 선정하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 말더듬아동과 일반아동의 의사소통 태도 검사는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 말더듬아동의 의사소통 태도 점수는 일반아동의 평균 8.70점보다 높은 12.65점으로 나타났고, 말더듬아동이 일반아동보다 부정적인 의사소통 태도를 가진다고 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 말더듬아동 집단을 심함 10명과 약함의 10명으로 심한 정도에 따라 구분하여 의사소통 태도와의 관계를 비교하였을 때 통계적으로 유의수준이 높게 나타났다. 결론적으로 심리 정서적인 측면에서 학령기 말더듬아동은 말더듬으로 기인한 의사소통 실패의 경험에 의해 일반아동과 비교하였을 때, 보다 부정적인 신념체계를 지녔음을 알 수 있었고 또한 말더듬의 정도가 심할수록 낮은 자존감과 부정적 의사소통 태도를 가진다고 볼 수 있었다. 본 연구를 토대로 학령기 말더듬아동의 심리 정서적 측면의 기초 자료로 활용하여 말더듬아동의 추후 치료 과정에서 긍정적인 신뢰 형성을 통한 의사소통에 있어서 자신감을 높여 주는 것이 치료효과를 더욱 개선시킬 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate whether significant differences on communication attitude of school-aged children who stutter (7;0-9;11) exist as compared with normal children, and to examine the correlation between the communication attitude and the degree of stuttering when children who stutter are divided into two groups – the severe and the weak in the degree of stuttering. The subjects of this research are selected: 20 children who stutter and 20 age- and gender-matched normal children who have no significant difference between them in language ability according to the result of K-WISC-Ⅲ(language comprehension factor) test and language problem solving ability test and, then, T-test. The result was that: first, the test on communication attitude of children who stutter and normal children was statistically meaningful. The test score of children who stutter was 12.65 higher than the score - 8.7 on average - of normal children, which could mean that children who stutter have a more negative communication attitude than normal children. Second, it was presented that statistical significance level is pretty high when the group of children who stutter was classified on the basis of the degree of stuttering and then it was compared with communication attitude. In conclusion, it was found that school-aged children who stutter have a more negative belief system, owing to an experience in communication, than that of normal children in the mental and emotional aspect; that the severer the degree of stuttering, the lower the communication attitude.
