여중생의 초경과 정서·행동특성의 관계

본 연구는 중학교 여학생의 정서·행동특성을 살펴보고 그 특성과 초경유무 및 초경시기와의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 중학교 1～3학년 여학생을 대상으로 실시된 조사연구이다. 본 연구의 조사대상은 전라남도 5개 시를 중심으로 2단계 군집무선표집을 통하여 선정된 여학생 342명이었다. 이 학생들을 대상으로 설문지를 배부한 결과 전량이 회수되었으며(회수율: 100%) 그 가운데 응답이 불성실한 설문지 30부를 제외한 312부(여중학교 176부, 남녀공학 136부)가 최종 자료분석에 사용되었는데 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정서․행동특성을 알아보기 위해 K-YSR의 11개 척도별 평균 및 8개 하위척도별 평균의 순위 그리고 11개 척도별 임상집단 비율 및 8개 하위척도별 임상집단 비율의 순위를 산출한 결과 평균은 11개 척도 모두에서 규준집단의 평균보다 높게 나타났는데 특히 신체증상과 공격성에서 높은 평균을 보였으며 또한 임상집단 비율은 사고의 문제를 제외한 10개 척도 모두에서 규준집단의 임상집단 비율보다 높게 나타났는데 특히 신체증상과 공격성에서 높은 비율을 보였다. 둘째, 초경유무에 따른 중학교 여학생의 정서·행동특성 차이를 알아보기 위해 K-YSR 11개 척도별로 t-검증을 실시한 결과 우울/불안, 사고의 문제, 공격성에서 초경을 경험한 여학생 집단이 초경을 경험하지 못한 여학생 집단보다 더 높은 점수를 보였다. 셋째, 초경시기(초등학교 5학년, 초등학교 6학년, 중학교 1학년, 중학교 2학년)에 따른 중학교 여학생의 정서·행동특성 차이를 알아보기 위해 K-YSR 11개 척도별로 F-검증을 실시한 결과 총문제행동에서 초등학교 5학년, 초등학교 6학년, 중학교 1학년 집단이 각각 중학교 2학년 집단보다 더 높은 점수를 보였다. 이와 같은 결과는 관련 선행연구와 관련하여 논의되었으며 향후 과제나 관련연구를 위한 몇 가지 제언이 제시되었다.
Abstract
This study aimed to examine emotional/behavioral traits of middle school girls and their relationships to the presence and time of menarche in the girls. To do this, 342 girls who were attending at middle school in Jeonnam were selected through two-stage cluster random sampling and were asked to complete a questionnaire. Out of 342 returned questionnaires(return rate: 100%), 312 questionnaires were used for data analyses and the data analyses revealed results as follows: a)At all 11 scales of K-YSR, means of the subjects were higher than those of the norm group especially at two scales of ‘somatic complaints’ and ‘aggressive behaviors’ and at 10 scales except ‘thought problems’, clinical percentages of the subjects were higher than those of the norm group especially at two scales of ‘somatic complaints’ and ‘aggressive behaviors’; b)the group of girls who were experiencing menarche showed higher scores at the scales of ‘anxious/depressed’, ‘thought problems’, and ‘aggressive behavior’ than the group of girls who were not; and c)the group of girls who first experienced menarche at the fifth, sixth, or seventh grade were showed higher scores at the scale of ‘total behavior problems’ than the group of girls who first experienced menarche at the eighth grade. The results were discussed and several suggestions were presented for future related research.
