Abstract
Compared to the increase in visits to rural tourist destinations, rural areas are experiencing a population decline, and even famous tourist destinations are finding it difficult to improve their competitiveness and develop sustainably. In this study, Namhae German Village was selected as the research subject among famous rural tourist villages to grasp and analyze the current situation. The research method was a tourist visit characteristic analysis and tourist destination recognition image analysis (SD analysis method) for local tourists. The analysis method was frequency analysis and analysis by age using IBM SPSS Statistics program. A total of 213 people responded to the research results, with 40.4% males, 59.6% females, and 30s accounting for the largest proportion at 37.6%, and the intention to revisit was also high. The 30s and 40s appeared to be the age group with the most experience of purchasing tourist souvenirs, and the relevance analysis showed that the 20s and 30s answered that there was a higher relevance than other age groups. Meanwhile, the reasons for not purchasing tourist souvenirs included the lack of differentiation from other regions due to the absence of a tourist image for the village and the sale of similar tourist souvenirs. The tourist destination recognition image analysis was analyzed into ``sunny,'' ``stable,'' and ``warm'' images, and some differences were observed by age. Based on the analysis, we plan to present three directions as future research topics, including products that reflect the symbolism of the Visit Memorial Village, and proceed with design development.
