Abstract

This study aims to identify women's issues in social welfare from feminist points of view on linked understanding and responses to wife abuse and child abuse. It demonstrates how 'ideologies of victim-blame and maternal blame', 'excusing men inisible', 'pathologizing women', and 'conflictual values between two fields of wife abuse and child abuse' have impacts on society's perceptions and problem-solving related to the co-occurence of the two problems. Paying attention to the pathology of the victim of wife abuse and the mother's failure of protecting her child results in disempowering the woman in terms of giving her dual responsibilities for the overlap of wie abuse and child abuse. The subjugation of the ideologies of victim-blam and maternal blame should be preceded, and linked responses to the safety and rights of both women and children should be included for social work practice for empowering the woman victim.
