Abstract

The purpose of this study examined whether corumination was positively associated with levels of both support and conflict, and whether gender moderated the association between corumination and both support and conflict. Four hundred and eighty-five adolescents(240 boy, 243 girl) participated in this study and were asked to questionnaires, including Co-rumination Scale, and Quality of Relationship Inventory (QRI). The results were as follows. First, corumination was significantly associated with higher levels of both support and conflict. Second, hierarchical regression analysis revealed a moderating effect of gender between corumination and conflict. Corumination was positively associated with conflict in boys, but not in girls. Finally, the implications and limitations of the present study, and directions for future study were discussed.
