주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동의 부모-자녀관계와 학교생활 적응에 관한 연구

초록

ADHD 아동의 유병률이 높아짐에 따라 많은 연구들이 이루어져 왔지만, 주로 ADHD 아동에 관한 병리적이고 부정적인 측면에 초점을 두고 있다. 최근에 오히려 ADHD 아동이 일반아동보다 창의적이면서도 과잉행동과 충동성을 보이는 성공한 아동에 대한 사례가 소개되고 있다. 그래서 본 연구는 ADHD 아동이 일반아동에 비해 부모-자녀관계와 학교생활 적응면에서 차이가 있는지를 알아보기 위해 진행되었다. 연구대상은 평균이상의 지능을 가진 3～6학년 ADHD 아동 106명, 일반아동 101명을 선정하였다. 연구도구는 Furman(1985)이 제작한 Network of Relationship Inventory(NRI), 임정순(1993)이 제작한 학교생활검사지를 사용하였다. 연구분석은 t test, ANOVA를 사용하여 ADHD 아동과 일반아동 집단간의 차이를 비교하였다. 그 결과 첫째, ADHD 아동은 부모-자녀관계에서 일반아동에 비해 사회적지지, 처벌/주도권, 친밀, 대립, 우의면에서는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 둘째, ADHD 아동은 학교생활 적응에서 교우와의 관계, 학교 수업, 학교 규칙에 적응하는 정도가 일반아동에 비해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 교사와의 관계에서 조화롭게 지내지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 의의는 ADHD라는 진단명으로 인하여 긍정적 자원이 무시되어서는 안되며, ADHD아동의 성공적인 적응을 돕는데 필요한 프로그램 개발에 관한 기초 자료를 제공한다.

Abstract

Recent studies has focused on the negative and clinical aspects of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as the prevalence of ADHD is increasing. Some studies report that children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder are more creative more successful than normal children. Therefore this paper is to explore if there is any difference between the parents-children relationships of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and the parents-children relationships of their counterparts, thus if there exists any difference between adaptive behaviors of the two groups. The 101 subjects are normal children who are of above average intelligence level and between third grade and sixth grade. The used instruments are Furman(1985)'s Network of Relationship Inventory(NRI) and Lim Jung-Soon's School Behavior Test. To compare children with ADHD and their counterparts, T-test ANOVA is employed. The results are as follows. First, the study shows that there exists no significant statistical difference children with ADHD and their counterparts in social support, punishment/dominance, closeness, conflict, friendship. Second, there is no significant statistical difference between two groups in friendship, school learning, school behaviors, but children with ADHD are not likely to have good relationships with their teachers. The positive resources of children with ADHD shouldn't be neglected due to disability label. This study seems to provide the foundation for the development of effective programs that can help successful adaptation.
