주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동의 지능과 작업기억의 관계에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구는 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동의 작업기억이 일반아동에 비해서 차이가 있는지, 차이가 있다면 그 차이는 지능의 차이를 보정한 다음에도 여전히 남는지, 그리고 지능과 작업 기억의 하위 성분들 간에 어떤 관계가 있는지 조사하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구대상은 초등학교 4, 5학년 남녀 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동 20명과 같은 수의 일반아동이었다. 지능검사로는 K-WISC-Ⅲ를 사용하였으며 작업기억은 중앙집행기, 음운루프, 시공작업장을 각각 두 개씩의 하위검사를 사용하여 측정하였다. 측정된 자료는 t-검증, 공변량분석(ANCOVA), 상관분석의 방식으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 두 집단의 작업기억 중에서 중앙집행기에서만 차이를 보였고 음운루프나 시공작업장에는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이것은 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동이 지각의 문제보다 정보의 저장과 처리에 문제가 있음을 시사한다. 중앙집행기에서의 차이도 지능의 효과를 제거한 다음에는 나타나지 않았다. 이는 지능과 중앙집행기의 기능이 상당히 중첩되어 있음을 의미한다. 지능과 작업기억의 상관분석 결과 전체집단과 주의력결핍 과잉 행동장애 아동 집단에서 중앙집행기와 시공작업장 중의 매트릭스 기억이 지능과 높은 상관을 보였으며, 이것으로 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동은 인지과정에서 시각정보에 의존하는 경향이 있음을 추정해볼 수 있다.
