고기능 자폐아동의 운율정보를 통한 정서 인식 능력

본 연구는 고기능 자폐아동이 상대방의 정서를 인식하기 위하여 말의 내용과 운율 단서를 활용하는 능력을 알아보기 위하여 고기능 자폐아동과 일반아동을 대상으로 운율정보를 통한 정서 인식 능력을 비교하였다. 연구대상은 초등학교 3~6학년 고기능 자폐아동과 일반아동 각각 8명씩 총 16명이었다. 실험과제는 정서정보의 제시 조건-‘운율 없이 말의 내용에만 정서적 정보가 있는 조건’, ‘말의 내용과 운율의 정서적 정보가 일치된 조건’, ‘말의 내용과 운율의 정서적 정보가 불일치되는 조건’-을 구성하여, 말의 내용과 운율에 담긴 정서 정보를 어떻게 활용하는지 알아보았다. 말의 내용에 따른 정서판단을 종속변인으로 하여 집단(2)×정서정보 제시조건(3)의 혼합분산분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 집단, 정서정보 제시조건의 주효과, 집단×정서정보 제시조건의 상호작용 효과가 모두 유의하였다. 고기능 자폐아동은 일반아동에 비해 말의 정서정보를 위주로 정서를 판단하였으며, 상대적으로 운율의 정서정보는 덜 활용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 말의 내용에만 정서정보가 있는 조건에 비해 말과 운율의 정서정보가 일치하는 조건에서 아동들은 상대방의 정서를 더 잘 인식할 수 있었다. 고기능 자폐아동은 운율정보를 활용할 수는 있으나 일반아동에 비해 상대적으로 운율정보를 덜 활용하였으며 특히 말의 내용과 운율의 정서정보가 불일치하는 조건에서 그 차이가 두드러졌다. 이러한 결과는 고기능 자폐아동이 대화 상대자의 마음을 잘 읽지 못하고 화용 능력에 결함을 보이는 원인 중의 하나로 운율정보의 활용 능력이 영향을 끼칠 것임을 시사한다.
Abstract
In the present study we investigated the emotional recognizing ability from the prosodies in school-aged children with high-functioning autism(HFA). The participants were 8 children with HFA from the 3rd grade to the 6th grade of elementary school and 8 children with matching chronological age and language level. Children performed a task to recognize others’ emotional state according to the conditions of emotional information. The conditions were that which follows: the emotional information specific to contents in speech, the consistencies of contents of both speech and emotional information of prosodies and the inconsistencies of contents of speech and emotional information of prosodies. A two-way ANOVA of group(2)×conditions(3) was performed. The results of this study showed significant main effects of group and condition and significant interaction effect of group×condition. Children with HFA recognized others’ emotions depending on the emotional information of speech rather than prosodies especially in the condition of inconsistencies of contents of speech and emotional information of prosodies.
