수학교육에서의 질적연구법 활용에 대한 분석: 연구결과의 타당성 증진 방안을 중심으로

본 연구는 수학교육 관련 연구에서 질적 접근을 적용한 논문들의 질적 접근 활용양상을 탐색하고, 질적 접근의 타당도와 신실성 향상 방안을 논의하고, 수학교육 분야에서 질적 접근 활용에 대한 시사점과 제언을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 2019년부터 2020년까지 한국수학교육학회지 시리즈E <수학교육논문집>에 게재된 13편의 논문에 대한 기초분석을 실시하여 전반적인 경향성을 진단하였다. 질적연구 적용 양상에 대한 경향성은, 적극적 질적연구 6편, 반(semi), 혼합연구 3편, 문헌연구와 질적연구의 혼입 1편 등으로 나타났다. 기초분석 결과를 토대로, 13편의 논문 중질적 접근을 적극 활용하여 풍부한 논의를 가능하게 할 수 있는 6편의 논문에 대한 질적 분석을 실행하였다. 6편의논문의 방법론에 대한 세밀한 질적 분석 결과는 질적연구의 타당도와 신실성(trustworthiness)과 관련된 이슈들을 해당 연구의 맥락에서 상세하게 논의하고 있다. 아울러, 이러한 질적 분석의 결과에 기초하여, 향후 수학교육 분야에서질적연구를 활용할 때 유념해야 할 사항들을 제시하고 있다.
Abstract
Qualitative research has become a growing area of interest among the Korean educational researchers for the last two decades. As a consequence, the number of studies based on qualitative methods has rapidly increased while the quality of qualitative research has not gained much credit among scholars in Korea. This study explores to current practice of qualitative approaches in mathematics education-related studies. With this in mind, this study also seeks ways to improve the validity and trustworthiness of qualitative approaches, and to present implications for the practical practice of qualitative approaches in mathematics education. To this end, a general trend was investigated by conducting a basic analysis of 13 papers that used qualitative approaches and published in Communications of Mathematical Education <Series E> from 2019 to 2020. Of the 13 papers. Through the basic analysis, 6 out of 13 papers were selected as the object of qualitative text analysis. The result of this qualitative text analysis discusses issues related to the validity and trustworthiness of qualitative research in a detailed manner. In conclusion, based on the results of this qualitative text analysis, this study suggests several key points to keep in mind when applying qualitative approaches in the field of mathematics education in the future.
