장애인의 자살생각과 자살시도: 가구소득과 차별경험의 영향을 중심으로

초록

본 논문은 “장애인의 자살위험은 비장애인과 비교하여 어떠한가?”, 그리고 “장애인 자살에 대한 주요 설명변인은 무엇인가?”에 관한 실증적 답을 구하는 것이 목표이다. 이를 위하여 ⌜2014 사회조사⌟ 자료를 사용하여 장애인과 비장애인의 자살생각을 비교하고, ⌜2014 장애인실태조사⌟ 자료를 활용하여 장애인의 가구소득과 차별경험이 자살생각과 자살시도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. ⌜2014 사회조사⌟ 자료의 분석결과에 의하면, 장애인이 비장애인에 비해 자살생각의 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. ⌜2014 장애인실태조사⌟ 자료를 사용하여 장애인의 자살생각과 자살시도의 설명요인을 분석한 결과, 가구소득과 차별경험은 자살생각에 유의미한 영향이 있었고, 자살생각은 자살시도에 유의미한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 자살생각이 자살시도에 미치는 영향이 가구소득과 차별경험에 따라 어떻게 다른지를 살펴보기 위하여 자살시도에 대한 1) 자살생각과 가구소득의 상호작용효과 및 2) 자살생각과 차별경험의 상호작용효과를 살펴보았다. 분석결과에 의하면 자살생각과 가구소득의 상호작용효과가 유의미하였다. 구체적으로 가구소득이 낮을수록 자살생각이 자살시도에 미치는 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 장애인 자살에 대한 학문적, 실천적 함의를 논의하였다.

Abstract

The study aims to answer the following research questions: “How about suicide risk among people with disabilities as compared with non-disabled people?” and “What explains suicide among people with disabilities?” To answer the questions, we compared suicide thought between disabled people and non-disabled people using data from 「2014 Social Survey」, and examined the effects of household income, experienced discrimination, and suicide thought on suicide attempts using data from 「2014 National Survey on Persons with Disabilities」. Results of analysis using data from 「2014 Social Survey」 revealed that suicide risk was higher in disabled people than in non-disabled people. Results of analysis using data from 「2014 National Survey on Persons with Disabilities」 showed that household income and experienced discrimination were significantly associated with suicide thought among people with disabilities. Suicide thought was a significant factor of suicide attempt. In addition, there was a significant interaction between suicide thought and household income in explaining suicide attempt. Implications for future research and social policies were discussed.
