본 연구는 거리 노숙인들의 생애사 연구로 구술자료 분석을 통해 연구 참여자들이 구성한 거리노숙의 의미를 분석했다. 연구에는 4명의 노숙인들이 참여했으며 생애사 분석을 위한 텍스트는 구술 면접을 통해 구성했다. 텍스트는 Mandelbaum이 제안한 생애사 분석틀을 통해 삶의 차원, 전환점, 적응을 분석했다. 자료 분석 결과, 연구 참여자 1의 경우 거리노숙은 「짐스러운 삶으로부터의 도피처」로 나타났다. 연구 참여자 2의 경우 「종착지에서 조우한 절박한 생존의 장」로 나타났다. 연구 참여자 3에게 있어 거리노숙은 「지난 일에 대한 자책과 회한의 장」으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 연구 참여자 4에게 거리노숙은 「실존의 죽음을 통해 되살고 있는 공생의 터전」으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구 참여자들의 거리노숙 경험을 관통하는 생애사 주제는 「무의미하고 짐스러운 삶으로부터 도피하여 거리세계를 부유하기」로 상정했다. 이러한 연구결과에 근거하여 연구자는 거리노숙이 단지 물리적 거처의 상실을 넘어서 근원적인 거주의미의 상실로부터 비롯된 결과임을 지적했고 거리노숙의 만성화를 예방하고 거주의미를 재구성하기 위한 통합 프로그램의 필요성을 제안했다.
Abstract
This research is life history study on the homeless living in the street and was to analysis the meanings of dwelling of the homeless. Four homeless peoples participated in this research. The author constructed a text for life history analysis by a series of narrative interviews. The text was interpreted according to Mandelbaum’s analytic frame: dimensions of life, turning points and adaptations. For the participant 1, the meaning of the homeless’s street living was “a refuge from onerous life.” For the second participant, it was “a urgent survival field meeting with the end of life.” For the third, it meant “a field of guilty and remorse in the past.” Finally for the fourth participant regarded street’s living as “another living field depending other’s support.”The result as follows. The life history of participants have drifted street world escaping from meaningless and burden life. Based on this, we pointed out street’s life as a outcome proceeding from dwelling meaning’s loss we proposed “a program for reconstructing a dwelling meaning of homeless peoples as a preventive and therapeutic intervention.
