초록

The purpose of this research is to find an efficient method for child safety education by examining the current condition of safety education and its understanding by the teachers in reference to their demands. For this purpose, we have conducted a survey of 130 childcare teachers working in childcare centers in Kyeonggi province. The questions were made after referring to related documents and execution research and were confirmed by childcare experts for its content validity. The collected data was analyzed according to descriptive statistic analysis, and correlation and simple regression analysis. The results are as follows. First, the teachers were attending more education seminars from outside organizations rather than education programs carried out by childcare centers, and the education needed to be more practical and detailed. Second, the childcare teachers were aware of the necessity of the safety education; however, they had difficulty in receiving the education. Third, the childcare teachers expressed high demands for improvements in the quality of the education rather than expanding the time. Fourth, the teacher’s understanding of safety education showed a statistically significant effect on their demands. In other words, the better the understanding of safety education by the teachers, the higher their demands.
