대학생의 내재적-외현적 종교성향에 따른비합리적 신념 수준의 차이

이 연구는 내재적-외현적 종교 성향에 따라 대학생의 비합리적 신념 수준이 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 알아보는 데 있다. 이러한 결과는 종교를 가진 내담자를 상담하는 과정 중에서도 시사하는 바가 크다고 할 수 있다. 이를 위하여 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 대학생의 내재적-외현적 종교 성향에 따른 비합리적 신념 수준은 어떠한 차이가 있는가? 이 연구의 대상은 서울, 경기, 충북에 위치한 대학생 중 300명의 연구 대상을 채택하였다. 이 중 종교를 가지고 있는 학생은 207명이었고, 종교를 가지고 있지 않은 대학생은 93명이었다. 연구를 위한 측정 도구는 종교의 성향을 측정하기 위하여 Allport와 Ross(1967)의 종교성향척도(Religious Orientation Scale, ROS)를 사용하였고, 비합리적 신념 수준을 측정하기 위하여 Jones(1969)에 의해 개발된 것으로 번역한 것을 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 기본 통계치를 구하고 t 검증, ANOVA 검증을 사용하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 대학생의 내재적, 외현적 종교 성향에 따른 비합리적 신념 수준에 있어서 4개 요소에서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 종교의 외현적 성향을 가진 집단이 내재적 종교 성향을 가진 사람들보다 정서적 무책임, 의존성, 무기력, 완벽한 해결 부분에서 비합리적 신념 수준이 더 높았다. 이 결과가 시사하는 바는 상담의 장면 안에서도 종교를 가지고 있는 내담자의 신념과 종교성향을 통해서 내담자의 심리적 특성들을 탐색할 수 있는 기회가 될 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate how different was the levels of irrational belief of university students according to intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientation. The research questions were as follows: ⒜ Is there any difference in irrational belief according to the length of religious life? ⒝ Is there any difference in irrational belief according to intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientation? Three hundred students of three universities in Seoul, Kyeongido and Chunchengbukdo answered the questionnaire. 207 students had their religion and 93 students had not. Religious Orientation Scale(ROS) designed by Allport and Ross(1967) was used to measure religious orientation. And Irrational Belief Test(IBT) deviced by Jones(1969) was used to measure the levels of irrational belief. In order to test the hypotheses, the t-test, the ANOVA test were employed. The results of this study are following. The first, difference in irrational belief according to the number of years in religious life was not statistically significant. The second, irrational belief of student who has participated many times in religious activity was lower than student who has participated less times. Finally, there was a significant difference in four sub-scales of irrational belief according to intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientation. ‘Emotional Irresponsibility’, ‘Dependency’, ‘Helplessness’, and ‘Perfect Solution’ of extrinsic religious orientation group were higher than intrinsic religious orientation group. In conclusion, the levels of irrational belief may be determined by religious orientation rather than the length of religious life. This supported that irrational belief may be different according to whether personal religious orientation is mature or not, even if they have same religion.
