성인의 인터넷 중독 경향에 따른 인터넷 사용동기 및 과다사용 해소방안에 대한 인식 차이

본 연구에서는 성인의 인터넷 사용동기 정도와 인터넷 과다사용 해소방안에 대한 인식이 응답자의 인터넷 중독경향에 따라 차이가 있는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 예비조사를 통해 성인의 인터넷 사용동기와 과다사용 해소방안을 측정하기 위한 본 설문지를 구성하였고, 성인 남녀 400명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 인터넷 사용동기 문항과 과다사용 해소방안 문항의 신뢰도는 각각 α=.81과 α=.91 이었다. 연구결과로는 첫째, 성인의 인터넷 중독 경향이 높아질수록 인터넷 사용동기 정도도 높아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 인터넷 사용동기와 인터넷 중독의 각 하위요인들 간에도 유의미한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 인터넷 과다사용자들은 일반사용자들에 비하여 인터넷을 통해 즐거움 욕구, 시간보내기 욕구, 현실회피 욕구, 대인관계 욕구, 정체성 욕구, 성취 욕구를 충족하려는 동기가 높았다. 둘째, 인터넷 중독경향은 과다사용 해소방안에 대한 필요성 인식과는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 인터넷 과다사용자들은 인터넷 과다사용 해소방안(자기가치 발견 및 친밀감 회복, 인터넷 사용자제 및 차단, 문제인식 및 삶의 목표 수립, 인터넷 사용조절 시도)의 필요성에 대한 인식 정도가 일반사용자들에 비해 유의미하게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 인터넷 중독 경향이 강한 사람일수록 인터넷을 통해 충족하고자 하는 동기가 증가하는 반면 과다사용 해소를 위한 대책에는 소극적임을 의미한다.
Abstract
This study was to investigate the differences in adults' internet using motivation and opinions for healthy internet usage between internet over-users and healthy users. For these purposes, the questionnaires for measuring adults' internet using motivation(α=.81) and opinions for healthy internet usage(α=.91) were developed through preliminary survey. 400 male and female adults participated in main survey. The results were as follows. The degree of internet addiction was correlated with adults' internet using motivations positively. Internet over-users had significantly stronger motivation for relationship, identity, achievement, escapism, wasting time, enjoyment thru internet activities than healthy users. The degree of adults' internet addiction was negatively correlated with the degree of awareness for healthy internet use. Internet over-users less recognized the importance of finding self-worth and intimacy, stopping internet activity, developing life-goals, self-regulation in internet using than healthy users.
