이공계 대학생의 개인 학습상담 참가경험에 대한 질적 분석

본 연구에서는 학습문제를 겪는 이공계 대학생이 학습상담에서 무엇을 경험하는지를 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 개인 학습상담에 참여한 이공계 대학생 10명에게 개인 학습상담 서비스의 내용과 방법에 대한 요구, 학습상담 참가 중의 경험, 학습상담 종료 후 효과를 질문하였다. 서면 및 대면 면접을 실시하여, 전사한 면접 자료를 합의적 질적 분석(CQR) 방법으로 정리하였다. 자료 분석 결과 개인 학습상담에 참여한 이공계 대학생들은 개인 학습상담을 통해 심리적 조력과 학습방법 관련 조력, 진로 심리검사나 취업지원 프로그램 등의 서비스를 받을 수 있었고, 그 결과 학습행동변화, 진로발달, 사고변화, 감정변화, 생활방식 변화 등의 효과를 얻었다고 반응하였다. 그러나 수학․물리․전공 기초실력을 보충하기 위한 개입, 기초교과목 학습 보충과 관련된 도움, 진학대상 학교나 학과 또는 취업대상 업체와 진입방법 입수에 대하여는 미흡한 서비스를 받은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해, 상담자들이 이공계 학생들의 학습상담 요구를 충족시키기 위해서는 기존의 상담자 훈련에 더하여, 수학이나 물리 등 기초교과목의 학습 결손으로 인해 전공 수업에서 누적된 학습 부진이 어떻게 나타나고 있는지에 대한 진단, 이공계 각 전공의 진학대상 학교나 학과 또는 취업대상 업체와 진입방법에 관한 직접적인 정보탐색 및 해석, 전공과 과목에 따라 다르게 경험하는 좌절의 극복을 돕기 위한 전공분야와의 시기적절한 연계 서비스 등에 대한 수련을 보충해야 함을 알 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study is to explore the natural science and engineering college students' needs about academic counseling. The research participants were 10 natural science and engineering students who had taken the academic counseling during fall semester of 2011. They performed semi-structured written interview via e-mail and face to face interview. The contents of interview questions were their expectations and needs on academic counseling, main experiences in the counseling, and effects after the counseling. The transcripts of the interviews were analyzed as per CQR(consensual qualitative research) procedures. The results were as follows: The natural sciences and engineering college students who had participated academic counseling wanted integrated services for problem-solving in psychological․academic problem and major specific career planning. They got psychological, academic, and career exploration services as counselors' warm response, recognition, encouragement, psychological testing, getting information, referral etc. The participants reported positive changes in their academic behavior, career development, way of thinking, emotion as the effects of academic counseling. They wanted individually customized academic counseling, systematic service to solve their problems without wasting time. These results suggest that one should prepare psychological counseling competence, academic counseling skills, and career counseling abilities to be a competent academic counselor for college students.
