청소년의 영적 안녕감이 인터넷 게임, 사이버섹스, 스마트폰 사용을 통한 중독행동에 미치는 영향

본 연구의 목적은 영적 안녕감이 청소년의 대표적 미디어 중독인 인터넷 게임 중독, 사이버섹스 중독, 스마트폰 중독에 유의하게 영향을 미치고 각 중독집단을 판별할 수 있는지를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 수도권 S시, 대도시 D시, 경북 P시에서 고등학교 2학년에 재학 중인 남녀 학생 총 842명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 중다회귀분석과 판별분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영적 안녕감의 하위요인인 실존적 영적 안녕감은 인터넷 게임 중독, 스마트폰 중독, 사이버섹스 중독에 유의한 부적 영향을 미친 반면, 또 다른 하위요인인 종교적 영적 안녕감은 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 둘째, 실존적 영적 안녕감은 인터넷 게임 중독, 사이버섹스 중독, 스마트폰 중독을 유의하게 판별할 수 있는 판별변인이며, 종교적 영적 안녕감은 인터넷 게임 중독만을 유의하게 판별할 수 있는 판별변인이다. 이러한 결과를 통해 영적 안녕감이 낮을수록 미디어를 중독적으로 사용하는 것을 알 수 있으며, 특히 실존적 영적 안녕감이 미디어 중독에 큰 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라 중독집단을 변별하는 중요한 변인임을 알 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 영적 안녕감을 통해 미디어에 중독이 된 청소년들에게 보다 적절한 개입을 할 수 있도록 기초자료를 제공한다는 데 그 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The present study examined the effects of spiritual well-being on addictions to internet games, cybersex and smartphone use among Korean youths. This study also identified the discriminating power of such addictions by spiritual well-being. For this purpose, the survey was administered to 842 students in the eleventh grade from S city, D city, and P city in Korea. To test the research hypotheses, multiple regression analysis and discriminant analysis were employed. The major findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, the existential spiritual well-being, a subscale of the spiritual well-being scale, was found to negatively influence addictions to internet games, cybersex, and smartphone use. On the other hand, the associations between the religious spiritual well-being subscale and addictions variables were not significant. Second, the existential spiritual well-being significantly discriminated addictions to internet games, cybersex, and smartphone use while religious spiritual well-being significantly differentiated addictions to internet games only. The present study showed that spiritual well-being significantly affected media addiction. Especially, this study suggests that the existential spiritual well-being is a critical factor in media addiction, as it not only negatively contributes to addictions to internet games, cybersex, and smartphone use, but also significantly discriminates such addictions. The findings of current research have significant implications for developing intervention strategies based on spiritual well-being that would be tailored to the Korean youths addicted to the media.
