본 연구는 청소년의 인터넷 게임 내 사행성 경험이 문제적 주식 및 코인 투자 행동에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 이 과정에서 온·오프라인 도박행동의 매개효과를 검토하고자 하였다. 연구 자료는 온라인 패널 조사를 통해 청소년 2,150명을 대상으로 수집하였으며, 매개분석은 SPSS PROCESS macro (Model 4)를 활용하여 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 인터넷 게임 내 사행성 경험은 문제적 주식 및 코인 투자 행동에 유의미한 직접효과를 보였고, 동시에 온·오프라인 도박행동을 통한 유의한 간접효과도 확인되었다. 구체적으로, 게임에서의 사행성 요소에 대한 높은 노출은 도박행동 참여 가능성을 증가시키고, 이는 다시 문제적 투자 행동의 위험을 높이는 경로로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 게임 내 사행성 경험이 단순히 도박 성향에만 그치는 것이 아니라, 청소년의 금융위험 행동으로까지 확장될 수 있음을 실증적으로 검증한 것이다. 이러한 결과는 청소년의 도박 및 문제적 투자 행동 예방을 위해 사행성 게임 메커니즘에 대한 교육적·정책적 개입의 필요성을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study examined the effects of Speculative Experience in Internet Games on problematic stock and coin investment behaviors among adolescents, with a focus on the mediating role of online and offline gambling behaviors. Data were collected from 2,150 adolescents through an online survey panel, and mediation analysis was conducted using the SPSS PROCESS macro (Model 4). The results revealed that speculative experience in internet games had a significant direct effect on problematic stock and coin investment behaviors. In addition, a significant indirect effect was observed via online and offline gambling behaviors. Specifically, greater exposure to speculative features in games was associated with higher engagement in gambling behaviors, which subsequently increased the risk of problematic investment behaviors. These findings provide empirical evidence that speculative gaming experiences not only contribute to gambling tendencies but also extend to risky financial behaviors among adolescents. The study highlights the importance of educational and policy interventions targeting speculative game mechanics to prevent gambling problems and problematic investment tendencies in youth.
