초록
This study examines the prepositional usage of Korean L2 learners compared with that of native English speakers through a corpus-based analysis of 1,000-word academic essays. Results reveal that Korean learners overuse spatial prepositions such as ‘in’ and ‘on’ while demonstrating an under use of abstract prepositions such as ‘of’ and ‘to.’ In contrast, native speakers demonstrate a more balanced and diverse use of prepositions, favoring abstract forms that enhance syntactic efficiency. Chi-square analysis confirms statistically significant differences in usage patterns between the groups. These findings highlight the systematic differences in abstract preposition use between Korean learners and native speakers, suggesting the need for further pedagogical attention.
