아랍의 카이(Kayy)와 한방의 뜸 비교 연구

초록

지구촌 여러 곳에는 전통 의학이 존재하고 있으며 지역에 따라서는 주민들이 현대 의학 보다 전통의학을 선호하는 경우도 있다. 아랍 지역에는 이슬람 의학 또는 선지자의 의학이라는 전통 의학이 존재하며 한국에도 한의학 또는 한방이라는 전통 의학이 존재한다. 최근 한국을 찾아 한의학 치료를 통해 질병을 치료하는 아랍인의 수가 증가하면서 한의학에 대한 아랍인의 관심이 높아지고 있다. 최근 아랍 전통 의학 치료법 중 하나인 الكَيّ(kayy-카이) 치료와 한의학의 뜸 치료를 같은 치료법으로 소개하는 한국어 자료와 아랍어 자료가 있어 매우 흥미롭다. 본 연구는 관련 문헌을 중심으로 카이와 뜸을 비교 연구하여 뜸과 카이의 비슷한 점과 다른 점을 확인하고자 한다. 이를 통해 과연 카이를 뜸으로 뜸을 카이로 번역할 수 있는가 그리고 한국인과 아랍인이 각각 카이와 뜸을 자신들이 알고 있는 뜸과 카이로 쉽게 이해할 수 있을지를 가늠해보고자 한다.

Abstract

Traditional medicine (alternative medicine) exists in many parts of the world, and some residents prefer traditional medicine to modern medicine. Recently, as the number of Arabs who visit Korea to treat diseases through Korean traditional medicine treatment has increased, Arabs' interest in Korean traditional medicine is increasing. There are translations of Korean and Arabic that introduce ‘Moxa’ – a Korean traditional therapy as ‘Kayy’ – an Arabic traditional therapy and vice versa. This study aims to confirm the similarities and differences between ‘Moxa’ and ‘Kayy’ by comparing and studying both based on related literature. Through this, I would like to estimate whether ‘Kayy’ can be translated as ‘Moxa’ and whether Koreans and Arabs can easily understand ‘Kayy’ and ‘Moxa’ as they know, respectively.
