하이데거에게 있어 기억과 상상의 에토스

본 논문의 목적은 하이데거의 기억론을 시적 상상의 장, 즉「기억이 나를 본다」라는 한편의 시 속에서 재구성․재해석하는 데 있다. 한편으로 이 시도는 하이데거 기억론을 선명하게 구체화할 수 있는 장점이 있으며, 다른 한편으로 그것의 보편성을 비판의 시험대에 올릴 수도 있다. 이런 시도의 기저에는 사유(기억)의 흔적이 탁월한 방식으로 시어에 담겨져 있다는 생각이(하이데거의 생각이기도 함) 전제로 깔려있다. 하이데거가 시 속에서 언어에 관한 사유를 전개하였듯이, 나는 한 편의 시 속에서 그의 기억론 그리고 상상과 기억의 에토스에 관한 문제를 다루고자 한다. 이것은 곧바로 시적 상상과 철학적 기억의 ‘친밀한’ 관계를 전제하고 그것들의 윤리적의미를 찾는다는 뜻이다. 존재진리의 관점에서 ‘짓기’(상상)와 거주하기’(에토스)의 관계를 ‘사유’(기억)함으로써, 하이데거는 암시적으로나마 상상과기억의 에토스를 밝힌다. 그리하여 기억과 상상의 하이데거적 에토스는 ‘진리의 돌보미가 되라!’는 말에 담겨져 있음을 논증하는 것이 본 논문의 최종목적이다. 상식적인 기억관과 차별화된 하이데거의 기억론은 다음과 같이 네 가지로요약될 수 있다. 첫째, 기억은 나의 능력이 아닌 타자적인 힘이다. 둘째, 기억은 임의로 떠올릴 수 있는 것이 아니라, 존재의 전환기에 발생하는 사건이다. 셋째, 인간은 기억의 주체라기보다는 타자적인 기억의 매체에 가깝다. 넷째, 기억은 복수의 양태로 존재하며, 언제나 상상을 동반한다. 마지막으로 나는 이런 논의를 바탕으로 하이데거의 윤리, 특히 기억과 상상의 에토스를‘돌봄’으로 요약하고, 타자 존재 그대로를 드러내는 진리의 돌보미가 되는것이야말로 하이데거적 윤리의 초석임을 밝힐 것이다.
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to reconstruct Heidegger’s ideas for memory in the field of poetic imagination, i.e., in the poem, Memories Look at Me. This attempt can get his ideas for memory to be distinct on the one hand, and to be put to the test on the other. Because traces of thinking(memory) can be found most distinct in poetic language, as Heidegger had argued already. As Heidegger had gathered his thoughts about language in a few poems, I wants to deal with his ideas for memory and the ethos of memory(and imagination) in a poem. It means that the intimate relation between poetic imagination and philosophical memory is presupposed and its ethical meanings are sought. From a perspective of truth, Heidegger had revealed the ethos of imagination and memory only suggestively, thinking(memorizing) about the relation between building(imagination) and dwelling(ethos). Therefore, the final aim of this paper is to prove that the ethos of imagination and memory is encapsulated in a sentence, “Become a carer for truth!” The heideggerian memory that is different from common sense can be summarized as follows. 1) The memory is not my own faculty but unknown force. 2) The memory is not something that can be recollected at my disposal but a event that can occur only in a turning point of Being. 3) human being is a medium of strange memory rather than a subject of his memory. 4) The memory is in fact as plural memories and always accompanied by imagination. On the basis of these arguments, I will epitomize the first principle of heideggerian ethics as a care for truth that reveals beings as such, especially in aspect of the ethos of imagination and memory.
