초록
Hannibal, one of the greatest general ever remembered in Western civilization and a formidable enemy toward Rome, was esteemed by Greek historian Polybios. Polybios' assessment to Hamilca Barca was very excellent too. Hamilca Barca was only one to have daring and genius in the First Punic War in his view. He thought Hannibal, son of Hamilca Barca, was a successful successor of his own father. And, Polybios, as a former general, had a some principles about generalship. These principles are keeping silence, knowing about moving distance, notion of time and season, signals and counter signals, choice of agency and company to be suitable in plan and information and its use. Polybios' assessment on Hannibal was established by those standards. That is, a historian assessed a general as a former general.
