초록

The core force of Koryo dynasty under the command of the Two Guards(Igun, 二軍) and Six Divisions(Yukwi, 六衛) had consisted of military strength of the Kyesong area as well as of the forces recruited from countrymen. Although Boseung․Jeongyong were full-time forces similar to the Kyesong-resident forces, they were district because they were ranked to the low ruling position in the country. Since the central Boseung․Jeongyong were full-time professionals, off-duty Boseung․Jeongyong residing in local provinces were charged to the home guard. The local military forces were characterized by the composition of the manpower, both of full-time low ruling professionals and regular labor-charge peasant forces. This composition of full-time professionals in the local military forces was different from the South provinces and Yanng-gye area. While South provinces were organized with local countrymen, the forces in the Yanng-gye area were built on the frontier garrisons from the central forces as well as each garrison personnel. It has been known that the provincial military had maintained no independent military command to Boseung․Jeongyong forces but to the Ilpumgun(一品軍). The officer of Ilpumgun had been held by local administrative officers(Hyangli, 鄕吏). Commands for the army forces stationed in each garrison(Chogun, 抄軍) had been dualistic such as the combination of ‘Jujinjangsangjanggyo’(‘州鎭將相將校’) and the commander of the frontier garrison(防戍指揮官) affiliated to Igun Yukwi. Therefore, it could be said that Chogun had actually been under the dualistic commands in a way that Jujinjangsangjanggyo directed the frontier regular army forces and the commander of the frontier garrison led frontier forces. However, the command of Paekchong-gun were local administrative officers. Finally it should be highlighted that the professional forces of Boseung․Jeongyong were the low ruling class in Chu-hyun and the combination and military command of home guards were dualistic. From this stance, it should be said that the Koryo military organization had been based on and utilized the systematic order of the former regional defense community.
