Abstract
This study investigates the influence of source electrode work function variation on the electrical properties ofN-type organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). Source electrodes with work functions of 4.55 eV, 4.44 eV, and 3.63eV were fabricated using gold, a bilayer configuration, and aluminum, respectively. The findings reveal that as thework function of the electrode decreases, the turn-on voltage decreases. The bilayer electrode exhibited thehighest on-current, while the aluminum electrode showed the lowest. This variation is attributed to differences inthe charge injection barrier between the source electrode and the organic semiconductor, as well as the formationof an oxide layer on the metal electrode. These results provide a basic understanding for modulating the electricalcharacteristics of N-type OTFTs.
