Abstract

This study concerns formative arts, which incorporates the representation of ‘Do(陶, ceramic)' and my perception on formative art. It, further, investigates how the fractal, the thematic ground of my works, and cylinder, curved surface, and branches, the formative elements of the works, are related to natural organic bodies from the natural phenomenal point of view. My works are primarily composed of cylinders made from plaster moulds and curved surfaces constructed by coiling. The works are comprised of shapes formed from the relations between the whole and part, organic and inorganic, and inside and outside. Each form is well positioned conscious of the between-spaces from the other forms. Ceramic art, a formative art with unique process of 'Do(陶, clay building)', is naturally an 'individual body of one'. While recognizing the nature of ceramic art, being an individual body, I pursued to harmonize the spaces that is indominated by such nature. And to represent this notion, I've created the formative ceramic art aiming to coordinate the strength and weakness of its nature as an individual.
