Abstract
This study examines how the difference of the factors calculation method affect explanatory power of the Fama-French 3-factor model that widely used several recent studies in the field of finance. The sample period is from 1982. 7 to 2007. 6 and the main conclusions are as follows: First, the explanatory power of the model were not decreased in the sample including financial companies. Second, factors that are calculated using the equally-weighted return showed higher explanatory power than using the value-weighted return. Third, the model had a low explanatory power in sub-period when stock market entirely opened to foreigners.
