초록

프로메테우스 신화는 다양한 장르를 통해 음악에 수용되었다. 저항적, 창조적 인물로 평가받는 프로메테우스는 시대에 따라 영웅, 예술가, 종교적 인물, 방랑자 등으로 모습을 바꾸며작곡가의 음악적 이상을 구현해냈다. 프로메테우스를 소재로 한 베토벤, 리스트, 스크랴빈, 노노의 작품들에서 음악에서의 신화 수용과 의미는 작곡가의 삶과 사회적 배경, 미학적 흐름에 따라 다른 양상을 보였다. 본 논문에서는 프로메테우스 신화의 매력을 증명하는 동시에신화와 음악의 유사성을 파악하고, 신화가 음악에서 시대에 따라 끊임없이 다르게 재현될 수있음을 밝히고자 하였다.

Abstract

The myth of Prometheus has been received and re-created in various musical genres. Prometheus, who was a rebellious and creative figure as an opponent of Zeus, symbolizes a hero, an artist, a religious figure, and a wanderer in musical compositions. The symbol and meaning of Prometheus in music are differently interpreted in the works such composers as Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Liszt, Alexander Scriabin, and Luigi Nono according to historical and cultural context and the aesthetic thinking of these composers. This study aims to show the academic interests of the myths and to testify that a mythical archetype can be constantly transformed and represented in music.
