Abstract

This article aims at examination of the compilation aspects and the compiling spirit of Indong Eupji, Oksanji which turn out to be compiled by the individual department. Oksanji has been bequeathed two versions. One is a version which Academy of Korean Studies has preserved and the other is a version of local circulation. A version which Academy of Korean Studies has preserved is estimated high as historical materials which it had a few of inaccuracy and missing characters as compared with the other. The compiling editor turned out to be not a Indong Busa(official of local) Choi Moon Jing but other person Jang Yoo. There was a version of Oksanji written and compiled by Jang Hak but it is not left nowadays. The real compiling editor of left manuscript turned out to be Jang Yoo. It seemed that Jang Yoo had started to write in 1699 when he had taken order for compilation of Eupji and he finished the compilation of Oksanji before long after. Oksanji is the basic and important historical materials which need to study Indong for 16~17th century. Because it contained not only the most detailed accounts about Indong of those days but also further informations as compared with Indong Eupji which later compiled by official department. It took the way of criticizing a system of Seungnam and accepting of a system of Sunsan Eupji, Ilsunji. At the result, Oksanji which was differentiated from another Eupji of locals and Indong Eupji which later compiled officially was produced. It shows especially in Oksanji that it had various descriptive characters relating a description of persons. It contained details from family names of each Hyangchon to career of individuals and the descriptive object of Sun-Heun(ancestors and wise ancestor) was increased a lot of. At an article about Boyu of a part of JeYoung, there were several articles about Hwang Sang pa(faction of family name) in Jang Si(a family clan of Jang). It was due to be compiled with background confliction for Hyangchon reign between some persons of Hwang Sang pa belonged to Su-in faction and persons of Nam-In faction in local society. At the result, Oksanji which a representative Su-In of Indong Jang Si, Jang Yoo compiled individually contained politically an intention of the representative for Indong Jang Si. As for the Oksanji editing, it may be said that it is one instance example showing that it can be revised by contents partly by the political change in the center and the area or the change of power that edite the personal eupji.
