Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare the differences in sarcopenia-related factors, such as body composition, functional fitness, and gait variables, among elderly women aged 60 years. Groups were classified according to age. The results of this study are as follows.: There were significant differences in Bodyfat% and WHR of body composition variables. Functional variables related to sarcopenia showed significant differences among subjects under 70 years of age, including sit-to-stand, sit & reach, right one leg with eyes open, left one leg with eyes open, timed up and go, and 10m walking speed, as well as the number of steps. Range of motion variables associated with sarcopenia showed significant differences in left cervical spine rotation, cervical spine extension, left and right lumbar rotation, and lumbar flexion and extension for the group under 70 years of age. Gait variables related to sarcopenia showed significant differences in stride length on both the left and right sides for the group under 70 years of age. Also, stride length showed significant differences on the left side for the group under 70 years of age. Normalized velocity was significantly higher in the group aged 70 years of age, as were the right side of the single support cycle, double support cycle on both the left and right sides, and double support load time for both sides. The heel-to-heel base support was significant on both the left and right sides for the group aged 70 years of age. In conclusion, Aging and sarcopenia are important for maintaining physical fitness, exercise, and independence in older women. Exercise programs that focus on improving strength, balance, and flexibility can help reduce the risk of falls and mitigate the effects of sarcopenia.
