본 연구는 부산 동래지역 전통춤의 명인 故 문장원의 춤 세계와 정신을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 문장원은 일제 강점기의 민속예술에 대한 탄압으로 명맥이 끊겼던 동래지역의 전통춤을 되살리고 전승하는데 핵심적인 역할을 한 인물이다. 그러나 그의 춤에 대한 연구는 더러 있었으나 그의 춤 정신과 업적에 대한연구는 부족했다. 문장원은 체계적으로 춤을 배운 적은 없으나 일생을 오롯이 동래의 전통춤과함께 했다. 춤에 대한 열정 하나로 일제에 의해 중단됐던 동래의 전통춤을 되살렸다. 동래야류를 중요무형문화재로，동래 학춤，동래지신밟기，동래고무，동래한량춤을 각각 부산시 지방무형문화재로 지정받게 하여 체계적으로 보존 전승할수 있게 한 중심에 문장원이 있었다. 그 중에서도 그가 되살려 다듬은 동래한량춤은 온전히 그의 춤이다. 그는 춤을 틀에 가두지 않으려 했다. 기본을 강조하되 즉흥성과 창조성을 누르지 않았다. 그의 동래한량춤은 전통의 멋과 기품과 예술성이 있으면서 즉흥성과 호방함과 창조력까지 겸비하는 흔치 않은 춤이다. 따라서 슬로라이프를 추구하는 세계적 추세에 맞춰 세계화할 수 있는 요소를 두루 가진 한국전통춤이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the late dancing master Mun Jang Won's realm of dancing and his spirit. Mun Jang Won is one of the most significant master of Korean traditional dance in the Dongnae area of Busan. The traditional dancing in the Dangnae area was vanished by Japanese oppression during the Japanese colonial era. Nevertheless, Moon played a significant role in reviving the traditional dance in the Dongnae area and handing it down to the next generation. Despite his accomplishment in Korean traditional dance, in-depth researches on his dancing spirit and achievements are still lacking. Although Mun had never learnt dancing in a systematical way in his early days, he devoted himself to the traditional dance of Dongnae area for his whole life. Mun revitalized the traditional Dongnae dance with his lone passion for dancing. Mun played a pivotal role in designating the Dongnae Yaryu (Field Play) as the Important Intangible Cultural Property. Also Mun was at the center of making Dongnae crane dance, Dongnae Jisinbalgi, Dongnae Drum dance, Dongnae Hanryang(prodigal) dance into Busan Local Intangible Cultural Property, hence these can be efficiently preserved and transmitted to the next generation. Among these cultural assets, Dongnae Hanryang(prodigal) dance is his own dancing that he restored and polished with his passion for dancing. Mun did not confined his dancing into frames, rather he emphasized the very basics of dancing and let spontaneity and creativity to be freed. The extraordinary value of Mun's Dongnae Hanryang(prodigal) dance lies within the traditional grace and artistry that are distinctively seen in its indeterminacy and ingenuity. Therefore, Dongnae Hanryang(prodigal) dance is a great Korean traditional culture for the globalization to keep pace with the global trend of slow life.
