강릉 오금집의 오금법(안쏠림) 고찰

Abstract

Among the various wooden structure materials used in Korean traditional architecture, pillars, which are important members of the standard, have been created with columnar trimming techniques, such as the Ogeumbeop, the gwisoseum, baeheulrim, and minheulrim method. One of these techniques dealing with wood materials, the Ogeumbeop, is a unique technique in which the pillars are tilted toward the inside of the building. It is easy to find examples of large buildings such as main building of palaces or main building of temples in temples, which were built by applying the Ogeumbeop. But it is very difficult to find a case of applying the Ogeumbeop in a traditional small private house such as Gangneung Ogeumjip. Research on this field has sometimes been done from a general point of view on the Ogeumbeop of large-scale major buildings. But no detailed research studies have been made yet. It is not an exaggeration to say that even in such a large building, there is not enough research on the Ogeumbeop, and there is no research on the Ogeumbeop of small private houses such as Gangneung Ogeumjip. Particularly, the Ogeumbeop applied in small private houses such as Gangneung Ogeumjip, if neglected, leads to a mistake and annihilation of the old technique. Sometimes craftsmen who are engaged in repairing traditional buildings in the field do not know the details of these techniques, so they judge the technique of the Ogeumbeop as a transformation or an original fault, and ignore the original form when repairing, and there is an example of arbitrarily erecting the column vertically. It can be said that such a thing is very dangerous and contradicts the fundamental ideology of repairing cultural properties. Therefore, Gangneung Ogeumjip from this research view point, can be said to be an appropriate research subject to understand the Ogeumbeop applied to private houses, and it was judged that there was also the significance of the research accordingly. In this research, the concept of Ogeum and the erection of pillars by the Ogeumbeop, and the results of the study were presented.
