Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the status of ultrasonography education in Korean medicine colleges by analyzing relevant textbooks, the National Licensing Examination for Korean Medicine Doctors, and survey data to provide a foundation for improving ultrasonography education in these colleges. Method: Ultrasonography related content was analyzed by reviewing Korean medicine college textbooks and the National Licensing Examination for Korean Medicine Doctors. Additionally, the ultrasonography education status of each university was assessed through a survey. Results: Textbooks used in Korean medicine colleges cover the principles, diagnosis, and use of ultrasonography, including regional ultrasonography and indications, and ultrasound-based treatments. Annually, the National Licensing Examination for Korean Medicine Doctors included ultrasonography-related questions. All colleges are equipped with ultrasonography equipment. Conclusion: Korean medicine colleges offer theoretical ultrasonography education, covering its principles, techniques, and advantages and limitations, along with practical training on various anatomical regions and diseases that can be diagnosed through ultrasonography. The inclusion of ultrasonography-related questions in the National Licensing Examination for Korean Medicine Doctors validates the relevance of the curriculum. The findings of this study have important implications, providing foundational data for research on ultrasonography education in Korean medicine and supporting the development of standardized ultrasonography curricula and relevant policies.
